That's when I last blogged...
Well, I'm back. Its been a funny old few years. After breaking up with the ex things took a definite turn for the better social life wise. My friends were brilliant, we didn't stop, there were trips out, nights in the pub, laughing until I couldn't breathe (admittedly that isn't too hard what with the crappy lungs) and just generally enjoying myself. That year and a half was spent putting myself back together, I was happy and content.I came to realise I didn't deserve to be treated how I had been for nearly three years.
The only downside was my health, I had never really picked up properly since the virus I had Christmas 2013 and the constant "Go! Go! Go!" attitude I've developed wasn't helping things. It all came to a head June this year. I'd caught 'flu in January which gave my body a real battering, I was in hospital for three weeks and when I had the chance to go home I jumped at it. I hate being away from home and, while I knew I wasn't better, I thought I'd be ok... nope.
I had yet another admission in April then, in June, I was just sitting on the couch at home when I started with the most horrible pain in my left side. The thought of a collapsed lung crossed my mind so of course I did the completely wrong thing by taking a few paracetamol and dragging myself to bed. A few days later I admitted defeat and rang my hospital. They saw me in clinic that afternoon and wanted to admit me there and then but since I only had the clothes I was wearing (and no phone charger!) I managed to talk them round into admitting me the following day.
I wasn't too bad the first few days, I think I had been running on adrenalin for so long that it was masking things but once I had chance to just stop fighting and let myself relax I became pretty ill. I started throwing up every time I ate, I had temperatures of 102 with uncontrollable shaking, the nurses had to fight me to keep the fan on to cool me down, I kept turning the central heating up, turning off the fan and wrapping myself in blankets..this was the hottest day of the year but I was bloody freezing.
My oxygen levels were through the floor and I was on oxygen as much as possible. I was told I had pneumonia, something I had had before so I wasn't too worried (ok, I was a little bit) The only time the state of my lungs worried me was after a rubbish ward round, I had been told I was likely to be in for weeks and it wasn't something I wanted to hear. I'd already been in a while, I was missing home and everyone I loved. I needed to get off the ward on my own ( I had been taken walks to the ward door and back and always on oxygen and you never get 5 minutes to yourself) So I took my oxygen off because, by this point I was damn sick of it, and basically stomped off the ward. I made it to the main entrance which was about 5 minutes walk, sat down then I was stuck. I couldn't breathe,my chest was so tight and I just couldn't get any air in. I didn't have a hospital band on as I always take them off if they are loose enough and I was in my "civvies" because I don't do pj's on the ward unless I really have to. I had this mad thought that if I keeled over outside among the smokers then I'd probably get taken to casualty and poked with needles.I managed to get back to the ward eventually and from then on I almost always behaved myself!
I was in for 5 weeks which has been my longest admission. Not something I ever want to repeat, but my doctors are really pleased with how I've picked up since and I'm really looking after myself (not that I wasn't before, I think I just needed the epic rest)
So yeah, crappy health for the past year or so but something brilliant happened too. I met someone. We have been seeing each other for just over a year now and, while this is always a bit of a cliché, he is the best thing that's happened to me for along time. He makes me happy and not just in a superficial, going out and having adventures kind of way (and we have lots of adventures) but actual, just being with him and doing normal things, kind of way. It must be love.. plus I think he is gorgeous and I fancy the bones of him (yep, that does sound superficial)
I enjoy spending lots of time with him, I've always liked having my own space and time to myself and always find it difficult spending extended periods of time with people ( I think that's why I struggle so much in hospital, you never can get much time alone) but it's different with him, he's my best friend and it's so easy being in his company.
Ahh! I've turned into one of those mushy types!

17 days later.
Well, that was a rude interruption! You could say life took a bit of a road down a bad neighbourhood for a while, I don't want to bore you with the details, but it involved 19 days in hospital sorting out (well that was the plan) my kidney stone (it's still there, just in bits) three weeks at home where I picked up a virus (the common cold one) which has really hit me hard. I fought it for three weeks as I had a few important things going on that I didn't want to be away from. Plus I'd just done 19 days, I didn't want to go back in!
I woke up the Saturday after boxing day in epic, epic back pain and knew it was time to take myself to hospital. I must admit I was tempted to take a load of painkillers to see if I could ride it out but its a good job I didn't. I had to be admitted to the ward through casualty which was a novel experience and while there I was found to have a heart rate of 150, sats of 84 (the measure of oxygen in the blood- it should be at least over 90 for me) and a crp of 235. Crp measures how much infection you have, it should be under 10 so with 235 you can tell how rough I was!
Once on the ward I was put on oxygen and had to sleep with it on, something new for me and something I wasn't too happy about, it felt like it was a sign I was getting worse. Still, I sucked it up and did what I was told, I was pretty determined to get out, however every morning I'd wake up with the mask on top of my head so I'm not sure how much o2 I was actually getting!
Things gradually improved, after a week I was allowed off the oxygen in the day and not long after I was taken off it at night which was a massive relief!
I finally escaped after 17 days and have been enjoying my freedom, though not too much as I'm still a bit tired and I'm finding it hard to climb stairs as my legs have lost a lot of muscle mass. I think I'll need to give exercise a serious thought!
Hopefully I will have some crafty bits to show you in the next few days.

Ah, I'm back to blogging :) It's been a hectic month with no sign that it's going to slow down. I have three hospital appointments this month, all require a 120 mile round trip which is a bit of a pain through its not too bad as I travel there by train and bus, at least I don't have to worry about the awful traffic on the motorway.
Last month I had my annual diabetic eye screening and Friday I got the results- My eyes are showing mild changes. To say I'm worried is a bit of an understatement, though I've had plenty of reassurance from my family and friends that if it had been serious I would not have been given 12 months until they want to see me again, I guess it's my inherent nature that I always jump to the worst possible conclusion! It has given me a bit of a wake up call though and, while my blood sugar control is pretty good, I have an epic sweet tooth. I've given up the tonne of sugar I put on my breakfast and my Haribo consumption is down to only half a bag a week (if that). Fingers crossed this will help.
I've treated myself to a hula hoop! It took some getting used to but now I'm fairly good at it. I do have to imagine I've a pencil up my bum and I'm drawing circles on the floor to keep it spinning, I think its a pretty good visualisation tool! The exercise is doing me good I think, at any rate I'm taller (nope, I haven't had a very late growth spurt, it's down to standing up straight for a change) My stomach is flatter which I think is also down to cutting out fizzy drinks and sugar, ive still got my c.f pot belly but I look more 5 months gone rather than ready to pop.

Well I was going to tell you about my day trip to Windermere but since blogger is being temperamental and wont let me add photos and what's the use of talking about something gorgeous like the Lake District if I can't show pictures, I will have to try again next time. Boo!
Have a great week!

150!
Wow, this is my 150th post! where has the time gone? It's been a while since my last update, I don't really have a good excuse other than "real" life has gotten in the way, it has been a few months of ups and downs to say the least.
Things are fairly good at the mo, I've been out of hospital for three weeks and am enjoying my post IV high, I am very thankful that I managed to escape before the heat wave, it's hot enough in hospital at the best of times, I have a feeling it will be roasting on the ward now. I've been started on a new nebuliser which I think is doing me good, though I can't really tell if its the end of my IV's making me feel good or the new drugs- I 'll have to wait and see. The only trouble is that its 3 times a day which is a bit of a pain, I am proud that in the two weeks I've been having it, I haven't yet missed a single dose- go me! So in total I have 10 nebulised doses of drugs a day- effort!
I've also finally reached a weight where the hospital have said 'no more' which is very, very weird to hear as my whole life I've been told I need to put it on, I've had to try and try and try. The challenge now is to keep it stable, I have also been told to do more exercise as the weight I have put on has mostly gone on my stomach and they think it might be squashing my lungs a bit- the job now is to try and shift that onto my arms and legs which are still skinny (yep- I look odd!) and not lose any weight. I have been taken off some of my high calorie supplements which, and I know this sounds daft, is a bit scary in a way. Weight has always been such a big issue for me and to have what I feel as my safety net taken away is very unsettling. I feel like if I start loosing weight then I wont be able to put it back on and I will be back to square one... I need to stop thinking like that.
I have been out and about, both in the garden and the local area, enjoying the sunny weather. Here's some photos instead of me waffling on!

I hope you are all enjoying the Summer! Hopefully it wont be so long before I update again.

A toad that I found in the garden. Trying to get some shade I think.
My garden peas. I harvested these yesterday and got about 3 meals ( for 3 of us) from this one tub. I've still got another lot to pick.
A vase of home grown Sweetpeas. Loooove the smell.
Down by the river. Went a lovely walk here as part of my get fit regime!
The lake at the park. Another walk!

Picnic
Day two in hotel Wythenshawe and it's the weekend. I can not tell you how much I don't like being in hospital at the weekend. It draaaags.... I think it's because there are no clinics on and the whole hospital seems to be less busy plus weekend telly is rubbish. Still, I have been off the ward twice today, once when I got wheeled down for an xray, it being weekend I had to have it at the xray that is part of casualty and isn't really where I like to go (this isn't a comment on the staff at all, they have always been great, it's more that it's just not somewhere I am used to going) and once when I went a wander in search of salt and vinegar crisps and Haribo which are pretty much the only things my stomach wants to eat at the mo.
I did manage to find some crisps but got chocolate instead of the Haribo (Cadburys Caramel for a quid- who could resist?) and had a very small picnic of sorts up on the top corridor at a little quiet spot that I like. It was nice watching the world pass by, but it was very quiet. It gives you time to think, which isn't always a good thing! Mainly I was thinking about how, last time I was in, I had a good idea my 2 and a good chunck of a year relationship was coming to an end and how stressed and emotional I was. The difference to how I feel this time is marked- I'm not stressed (well no more than being in hospital makes me) and while I am sad at times, and I do miss him very much, I haven't yet spent any time sobbing in the bathroom like I did back then. I have definitely had lots to think of, for the first time in a looong time, I am putting myself, instead of someone else, first and it feels good! I quite like this being single thing, tho I wouldn't say no if Damien Molony came and offered himself on a plate hehe, but I am enjoying doing what I want, when I want without thinking about how it would effect someone else. My weekends are my own again! I'm giving myself and my little crafty business my undivided attention. The world seems quite a positive place again!
Have a great Saturday night.

First Day
Hello from hotel Wythenshawe! I have been in just over a day now and feel a bit rough (though nothing too bad that would keep me away from the internet!) I'm on a combination of I.V drugs that I don't normally have and they are making their presence felt in my stomach, I'm waiting for my tea but don't think I'll manage much, luckily I have my button ( a tube into my stomach) that means I can still get calories without doing much so hopefully I wont lose weight.
I haven't had much time to get bored what with seeing various staff (doctors, nurses, dietitians) and going off to see the gas vampires who take blood out of my ear to see how much oxygen and carbon dioxide I have in my blood. I'm supposed to be having an xray but at the time of writing I haven't had it yet and its getting a bit late. Hopefully they will forget! As well as keeping busy, I have lots to keep me entertained. I have brought some crochet in with me so I can keep making the squares I send to Africa, I have my ipod ( where would I be without music?) my Kindle and of course the laptop I'm writing this on.
I am going to spend some time promoting The Crafty Folk Etsy team by blogging about what has been listed as well as making treasuries. I can't wait to get back into listing things. I'll be doing some more research on my family tree while I'm in, there's something to be said about being in hospital and that's that it gives you plenty of time to get on with stuff!

The Promotion Club
Hello! It is Handmade Monday time again :) It is number 89 already! Where has the time gone to?
I have had a very productive week business wise, ok no sales :( (in fact none this month) but I have made a real effort to promote myself on facebook and have seen a tiny increase in views. I think it is the knock on effect of being the craftyfolk featured seller two weeks ago. I have also quite a few things ready and waiting to be listed, I just have to take some photos.
The biggest thing I have done is start an Etsy team. I was pretty nervous about it tbh, I've never been good at being the leader of anything, I much prefer being in the background but I had an idea that I really wanted to try out. The idea is to post your facebook business page and the next 3 people to post on the thread with a link to their page, shares something you have advertised to their personal page. And so on. The hope is to get more views. Say if each person that shares your item has 50 friends, well that's 150 more people that see your item and potentially views it on your shop. Does that make sense? I must admit, I keep waiting for someone to tell me my team is rubbish. I must work on my self belief!
This is the link to The Promotion Club if you wish to join- http://www.etsy.com/teams/14043/the-promotion-club
I've not had any replies to the facebook shares thread so the more the merrier!
There are other threads too :)
I have listed and renewed a few things too, just click on the photos to be taken to the shop :)
In non crafty news- I went to archery again today and , not to sound big headed, but I have definitely improved. I am still the worst one there but at least nine times out of ten the arrow is actually hitting the target and today I got a gold (bullseye) but think that was more fluke than skill! Was well chuffed tho!
I was at clinic Wednesday, I expected my lung function to be rubbish but I was surprised that it was a 'not too bad for me' 36% I have also managed to put on 2kg in 6 weeks! MASSIVE YEY! to that!
Have a great week everyone!

Blinged up Button
Warning! This is a very boring "c.f" centric post, including a picture of Benedict (a.k.a my gastrostomy button)
It has been a month since me and Benedict got together in the xray room of a Manchester hospital early one Wednesday morning and we are getting on wonderfully with only a few teething troubles along the way. His impact on my life has been immense, I've put on so much weight that my B.M.I is a fab 23. I haven't had to use a belt to prevent bum flashing disasters and, as my mum put it, I'm getting a bit chunky around the edges. I'm probably going to have to start some toning exercises as I am getting a bit of a beer belly (without the beer) and I have the start of bingo wings.( I wonder how many people have stumbled upon this blog and, reading my joy at putting on weight, have thought "what a cow!" Actually that reminds me, when I was at school someone told me they wished they had c.f as I could eat what I wanted and stay slim, cue a look of disbelief from me and epic unspoken swearing (I was quite restrained back then) ) I love it though, seeing my body slowly change. ( I sound a bit weird don't I?)
I'm not sure what effect the extra weight has had on my lung function, it was about 36% last time I had it checked. To be honest I doubt there has been a massive improvement but I have been getting more exercise ( well sort of, does a walk around the block count as exercise?) so maybe.. just maybe..
The cold I wrote about a few blog posts ago did, in the end, start to make it's presence felt on my chest so I started some back up antibiotics that I keep in my draw of drugs and stuff. I feel ok now apart from being sleepy in the day and having insomnia at night. I have also been having the most vivid dreams and have been feeling really creative. Every cloud eh?
Here is a picture of my button with added shiny crystal snowflake ( sadly the N.H.S doesn't provide shiny accessories and the crafter in my just couldn't leave it plain)
There isn't a scale to judge it against but it is about 3cm long.
Have a great weekend !

Squirel
Happy Handmade Monday! Please check out Wendy's blog to see what others have been up to this week.
I have actually managed to be productive this past few days despite having a bit of a cold. Now a cold usually ends up on my chest but this time, *touch wood* it seems to have only had a tiny bit of an effect and, since I am going to clinic next week, I have decided not to bother getting any extra antibiotics. I don't know if it is, but I think it may be because I have managed to put weight on (over half a stone since April- am well chuffed!) I know I feel much better for it and its an excuse to buy new clothes :)
These are the bracelets I have listed...
First this flat circle bracelet
then this pretty red glass pearl bracelet
And finally, my favourite make this week, this multicoloured "rainbow" glass pearl bracelet.
I have also, fiiiiinally gotten around to building a Facebook business page, hopefully it will bring me some sales. You can find it here- http://www.facebook.com/littleharrietgifts
We had a visitor to the garden a few days ago and I just had to take a few photos.
He's very cute isn't he? It is a shame that grey squirrels are such bad news for the reds. He seemed to be munching on some bird food in one of those net bag things, he looked like he was enjoying it anyway.
Have a great week!

Busy Month!
I haven't blogged in such a long time, bad, bad me! In my defence it has been somewhat of a hectic month. First I went in hospital to have my wisdom teeth out, I was in for about a week and the actual pulling of the teeth wasn't half as bad I thought it would be. My gums were jabbed with some local anaesthetic, (this didn't hurt at all which really surprised me) I put my headphones on, turned up my ipod, opened my mouth and let the dentist do his work. I did have a bit of trouble with coughing and they had to stop for me to get my breath back a few times but the actual procedure went well. It did feel really strange though, with lots of tugging and pulling. Afterwards I was given painkillers and told to keep off the hot drinks for a day. I was very lucky and didn't have much pain and no swelling, it was as if I hadn't had anything done.
I was allowed home for 12 days before I was back in to have my peg (that I had put in in April, you may remember my nervous post) changed to a button (basically a long tube changed to something just abit bigger than a pound coin) This did not go according to plan and I have to go back yet again on the 28th for them to have another crack at getting one fitted on the 29th and then hopefully I'll be home a few days later. I think by the time that is done I will have spent more of August in hospital than at home, I may have to add that up to see if it is right.
I haven't got much crafting or Etsy listing done which makes me sad, I've been so tired and apart from a night to bingo yesterday, I have done nothing but eat and sleep. I think the drugs, painkillers and sedation I have had just over a week ago is still swilling around my system. I'll be glad when everything is done then I can get back into things without worrying that I will be back in hospital in five minutes! I feel a bit stuck at the moment and a bit ... lazy doesn't seem the right word, more like I'm waiting. This is the first night I have turned on my laptop for a while, I've had the internet and Facebook on my phone which doesn't require much energy. I can't wait to get back to blogging (especially Handmade Monday) listing on Etsy (the craftyfolk team!) and making treasuries and, of course, actual making!
I hope everyone is having a more productive month than me!

Catch up.
It feels like forever since I did a non Etsy or Craft post. I have been so busy setting myself up on Etsy including getting in touch with HMRC to let them know- I still have a way to go there and, tbh, it's all a bit scary. I haven't been able to do any paid work for years so everything like tax and National Insurance all seems a bit confusing and I have no idea how best to keep records. A few people have told me I should just sell online without letting anyone know but I just know I would get caught and anyway, I wouldn't enjoy it if I wasn't doing it properly. I'm an all or nothing kind of woman. It's taken a while to get proper permission from different agencies but finally I can do this :) I can't tell you how good it feels to have a structure to my day, to get up and have plans. I know I'm not going to set the world on fire, I may only sell something every few weeks (if I'm lucky!) but the effect it is having on my out look and self esteem is priceless :) And I had my first sale which made me smile for daaaaays!
I have been to clinic twice in the last month, first it was to visit a dentist about my wisdom teeth. I have been having a bit of problems with the ones at the top as they are so far back that they can't be cleaned (ewww!) and a month or so a chunk fell off (ewwww x a million). My regular dentist can't take them because of the cf so I have to have then done at the hospital I go to.Anyway, the dentist I saw said they will be fairly easy to take out and all I will need is a local aesthetic. I did feel a bit :S when she said I may feel a bit of tugging and hear some crunching. *bites nails*
I was also at clinic last Thursday to see my diabetic doctor about my kidneys. They aren't working as well as they should be and they are trying to work out why. It could be because I had stones a few years ago and they have made my kidneys a bit holey, it could be because I am diabetic and it can cause kidney trouble or it could just be because of the cf and all the heavy duty drugs I am on. *sigh* I have to have my blood pressure checked regularly to make sure it is normal and I may have to start some tablets- just some more to add to the list! The good news tho is that I have put on weight! yey! My bmi is a healthy 21 which is a good place to be but I am aiming for a little higher. I have the date for my peg to be changed to a button- 6th August. I can't wait!
A few days ago I cut my first Sweetpeas of the year. I blogged about them here- http://littleharriet.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/spring-
and here signs.htmlhttp://littleharriet.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/windy.html
I bought my mum the little glass basket vase from a charity shop. I love looking round charity shops to see what bargains you can pick up :)
Have a fab weekend.

And relax!
What a busy time I have had this past week or two, I feel like I haven't had time to just sit down and breathe.Of course just under two weeks ago I was at Wembley for the Play Off match, that was a loooong day. Normally those kind of days require a few days rest and relaxation afterwards but my friend was visiting for a weeks holiday on the Monday which required much sightseeing and entertainment. I had to get up fairly early Monday to meet him and go to where he was staying (not too far from mine luckily) but I got home in time to post a blog.. then it was nonstop. Tuesday we went to the zoo, we spent most of the day there and I pretty much walked my legs off. I made the mistake of going in a barn with furry things and hay....and my allergies went 'pop' I had streaming eyes and a runny nose.. ugh! But it was a great day and I did a lot of Awww ing at the animals. There was an embarrassing incident, we were in the gorilla house talking about what we would do if any escaped and I had just turned a corner when I nearly walked into a lifelike statue of one.. the echo of my squeak can still be heard I reckon. Here are some photos from the day.
We had a great day.
Wednesday I woke up feeling rubbish, I was full of a Summer cold. This is where my new peg came in really handy, I didn't have any appetite and my throat felt like it was on fire but I still manages to 'eat' and keep my strength up, I seem to have gotten over this cold in record time (not that I want to jinx it!) and am feeling much better.
Sunday was spent on the beach and in the arcades doing touristy things, I should have more sense but I lost a pound or two (actually I would say it was no more than £5- I'm not completely daft!) in the machines. Still, it was fun and a very rare treat. The heat really got to me though, and by the time I got home I was exhausted, the cold wasn't helping at all and my lungs felt like they had very painful bricks in them. I really, really needed a lie in on Monday but I had to be at the doctors in the morning. I also had to meet my friend who had to leave where he was staying early.
I finally got a breather on Tuesday which was much needed as Wednesday I had to travel to Manchester for a check up. To my massive surprise, my lung function had improved since last time though I was a bit disappointed that my weight had stayed the same. But my dietician reassured me that it was a really good sign that I hadn't lost anything while I couldn't eat properly the previous week. I also had my insulin changed as my blood sugars have been going a bit crazy when I feed, fingers crossed it will work and they will come down. My kidneys are also playing up a bit which is playing on my mind but I'm really lucky going to the unit I do, the staff are ace and I'm sure they will work out how best to sort me out.
Well that brings me near enough up to date, I have a busy weekend planned ( a mates birthday) so tomorrow will be spent being lazy and sorting out my craft stash. I need to resist the urge to buy more stuff until I know what I need!

New
I'm home! Well, I have been home since Tuesday afternoon and have been slowly getting back into a normal routine. Me and the Pegster (I need to find a name) are getting to know each other, learning what we both do and don't like.He/she/It doesn't like to be unexpectedly pulled or poked and I don't like having to look after his/her/its cleaning everyday. Still, we both love getting the extra calories before I go to bed (I'm up to 1250ml at 250ml/hr which gives me an extra 1875 calories every time I use it) I also like the extra water I can have everyday, I don't drink enough by far so the odd syringe full here and there is a great way of upping my intake.
I'm still in a fair bit of pain, especially when I cough but it's nothing I can't handle. I'm also so, so tired. I guess I'm not sleeping properly as I much be subconsciously aware that I have something different stuck in me! I'll get there though, it's just taking a little time.
Today has been the first day in over two weeks that I haven't had an afternoon nap, I have made the most of it and have been catching up with blogs and some clothes putting away (honestly, you should have seen the size of the pile I had to put away when I got home!)
Just a very quick update tonight, I'm listening to the Blackpool v Birmingham match and thinking tangerine thoughts.

Done!
It’s done! I’m all pegged up (and slightly drugged up too!) The relief is amazing, I can’t quite believe that it has happened, that I have it done. No more ng feeding! Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot.
After all my stressing in the last post, the actual procedure wasn’t too bad. I got taken down to the endoscopy place at about half ten in the morning and after a lot of waiting about, some form signing and “am I doing the right thing” thinking, I was wheeled into a very small room at about half 12. The doctor came in and explained what would happen, I was then given some sedation and the last thing I remember was having to bite down on a mouth guard type thingy.
I was taken into recovery about 20 mins later, doped and happy. My memory is still a bit hazy here, I remember seeing a picture of the inside of my stomach and the white disk holding the tube in place, and telling anyone that I passed as I was being wheeled back to the ward that I had a big bit of cheese in my stomach, I have been told that I said to the porter taking me back that I would buy him a golden trolley if I won the lottery. I am wondering what else I may have said! *blush*
I’m in a fair bit of pain, and have had plenty of painkillers but it is still pretty sore when I try to sit up. Coughing is agony and I’m a bit worried how my chest is holding up since I have been unable to do any physio. I’m hoping this doesn’t last too long.
I have managed to go for a wander around the hospital today while the painkillers were working at their peak, still, it was less a walk and more a zombie shuffle. It was nice to sit outside in the sun for 20 mins or so, I had a very mini picnic of a packet of crisps (bliss!)
So now I’m sat here having my first feed, they have decided to start me off slow and I am just having 300 ml at a rate of 50 ml an hour. At home when I used to ng feed I would do 1500ml at 350- 400 ml/hour so I really have gone back to baby doses. But I can’t complain, 300ml is equal to 450 calories which I need since I haven’t had much of an appetite. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a bit more and a bit faster.
I can’t wait to get home, I miss my parents and my dog. I miss my bed and my garden. I’m looking forward to seeing how my veg is getting on and I need to finish planting my hanging baskets.
So lots of plans!

be careful what you search for.
When I started this blog it was with the intension of sharing what I had been up to, posting pictures of what I had made and having the occasional rant. Tonight my blog has a different purpose; tonight it is keeping me company and is listening to my worries,(yep, I realise this sounds very weird) I have an overwhelming urge to let everything out.
So I am sat on my hospital bed, I have been here on the ward since Wednesday (about 2pm I think) and right now I have my laptop on my knee and my nebuliser in my mouth taking the 4th inhaled medicine of the day (one more to go)
Today has been ok, my parents visited and I went a walk with my mum to the shop in the hospital ( I bought a scratch card- as yet unscratched) and then had a wander outside (blissful natural, cloud diffused, light).
They went home at half 3 and I’m struck with loneliness, it’s a different sort than what I normally feel as this time I am in here voluntarily.
I put final score on freeview and watch as the results for the Blackpool v Burnley match scroll across the screen and grin at the final result. There is a pang that I am not there, normally the game after my birthday is one I would attend and what a game this would have been to go to. We are in the play offs!
(I’ve just started my last neb of the day, hypertonic saline, in other words super salty water. It makes me cough like a bugger)
I try to keep busy, I finish the Hunger Games trilogy of books my best friend bought me for my birthday, if I’m honest I was too unsettled to read and take it all in, I read it, but I can’t recall much.
After tea (toast- it’s all I can stomach at the moment) I notice a daddy long legs flying around my room in that floaty way they have, I wait until its at the window and let it out. I feel weirdly happy that it is free.
I think about Monday and my op. I have been reassured that I wont be in pain during it, that I probably wont even remember having it done, past experiences of being told this same thing and the opposite happening make me wary. I wonder if there are any experiences online I can read about. This is where I make the mistake. I type some words into Google and click on a few links.. I read something obviously written for medical professionals about the procedure, the things that can go wrong. (I am panicking right now just thinking about it) I know that there are risks for everything but seeing them written down and in medical jargon seems to make it worse. I keep thinking about how I will be awake, if something should go wrong I will be aware of it and be terrified. I long for a general instead of sedation and the unawareness it would bring.
So that’s how I feel now, scared and confused. Do I really want to go through with it, what would happen if I packed up my bags and went home tonight? I know it’s silly, I have committed myself to having this done, the pros far outweigh the cons and it isn’t exactly a huge procedure (I’ve had worse) but I have an almost overwhelming urge to run, actually run until my legs ache, something I haven’t been able to do since my lungs don’t let me.
I think my main problem is that this is something I have chosen to do, the other times I have had ops it is because there has been a need for it, I keep thinking just how much do I need to get that bit of weight on, is it really that important?
I worry that when I have it done I’m going to make a total muppet of myself by bursting into tears or something. If I am too soft to handle something like this, what would I be like for something serious?
I’ve made a list of the benefits and I keep repeating them to myself. That it isn’t that long a procedure, that this time the sedation may actually work and I wont remember a thing.
It’s taken me a good few hours to write this post, I think it has helped, I’m feeling a bit calmer anyway. In 48 hours it will be done. I can do this.
Thank you blogger, for letting me rant and if you have read this far well done!

30!
First I want to say a big thank you to christmaspiecraftswho awarded me the versatile blogger award! It is always great to think that someone likes my ramblings! Thank you lots! There are a few things I need to do before I can claim it so I will work on that.
I’m 30! My birthday was Friday (yep, the 13th- says a lot that) and I had a great one, I had a meal with my family and went out with my friends. I got some lovely presents including a needle felting kit which I am having a lot of fun with. I will take some photos of what I have made up to now and show you in the next few days.
I’m in hospital again, not the best start to my thirtieth year, but something that needs to be done. I have decided to go for it and have a Peg fitted, I am not looking forward to having it but know in the long run it will do me good. A peg is a tube that goes into your stomach so you can have extra “food” and calories, this will be handy for when I’m not well and can’t eat much. It will also help me to get a bit of extra weight on. The peg will be changed to a smaller ‘button’ in three months, the button looks like the valve a blow up ball (I wanted to write doll there) has so it's a lot more discreet than the peg which is long.
I’am absolutely pooping it when I think about having it put in on Monday, a general anaesthetic isn’t advised so I will be having it under sedation.. The thought of being awake is freaking me out a bit, I just hope I am completely wasted and don’t remember a thing.
But that isn’t until Monday.. For now I am trying not to get too bored, I have my laptop and my felt, books and music, my phone and blogs to read to keep me amused.
I am looking forward to this time next week!
Hope everyone is well!

Creme Eggs and cheese Triangles
I'm home! Thank you so much for the lovely messages, they mean so much and have put a smile on my face :) It is so good to be back, I have two weeks of blog posts to catch up and read, I've really missed them all.
I'm still fairly tired but I think this is more to do with the drugs I'm on, I've one more day of these to do then I'm back to Manchester to get my needle out- ahhh I am so looking forward to having a proper bath and not being tied into a 4 times a day IV giving schedule. I did have one :S time while I was in, one of the meds they gave me seemed to make my vision go a bit funny- everything was bright and I was sick with it, thankfully they stopped the IV version and put me on tablets. I had a talk with the dietician while I was in, although my weight is ok I am finding it a struggle to keep it at a level it should be and I have been losing a pound or two here and there, they want me to have something called a peg (changed later on to a button) This is a tube that goes directly into your stomach so you can get extra calories while you sleep. At the moment I do ng feeding (tube up the nose) once or twice a week, with the stomach tube I'd be able to "feed" more often and get a bit of meat on me.I just hate the thought of something being visible all the time and the idea makes me a bit squeamish... It's a lot to think about and the dietician and I have come to the agreement that I will give it some serious thought and if I'm not heavier in 6 months I'll probably have it done. *bites nails* I haven't stopped eating since I got home though (I have a craving for creme eggs and cheese triangles, not at the same time!) so maybe I will get away with it!
I can't wait to get back to making, I had plenty of ideas while I was in but didn't note any of them down! Daft me! Still, I seen to have hit an ideas patch, don't you just love that when it happens? Next week is going to be a busy one I think!

Yey and a :S
First I have to say a big thank you to Helen who awarded me a Liebster Blog Award! There are a few things I need to do to claim it and, along with the Versatile Blogger Award I got from Diomoglass, I am slowly working on it! Getting the awards have really cheered me up! Lets just say the past few days have been... eventful!
I went to visit a friend on Tuesday in Manchester, it is our valentines day tradition to meet up and generally sulk! Hehe It stems from when we both became single in painful ways, neither of us could be doing with the overdose of romance, so decided to put a positive spin on the day. Now I'm not single but it's still pretty important to see my friend as he lives a good way from me and Manchester is out centre point, plus I think it's important to be a mate in the good times as well as bad.
Anyway... Tuesday was the the first time I had done more than potter around the house or go to the local shops and so I hadn't really noticed how rubbish my lungs had got. By the time I had got to Manchester I was shattered, breathless and generally felt a bit poo. Being a bit of a geek, and not wanting to traipse around the shops, we decided to take a short train ride to Manchester Airport and see if we could see the double decker Airbus take off. We did! I was so chuffed and probably produced a massive display of overexcited geekery. I didn't have to do much more than stand at a fence in a pub garden but I really felt like I was overdoing it.Still, it was Valentines day and, after saying bye to my mate, I caught a train to see my boyfriend. He had bought me flowers! And chocolates! And I became all 'AWWWW!' It's the first romantic Valentines day I have had for 5 years and I was so happy. I know Valentines day is a bit commercialised but .. well...I am a bit daft when it comes to romantic things. So things were lovely, I was in a romantic haze of mushyness... then out of the blue my chest decided to play up. I won't go into much detail, it's a bit manky, lets just say I coughed something up that had no business being red (this isn't unusual for me except this time it was a bit more than normal). A car trip later and I was sitting in casualty, my protests that I had only just varnished my nails ignored as they cleaned one off so they could get an accurate reading on how much oxygen was in my blood..I had an xray and saw a doctor who let me go home as long as I promised to ring my cf team in the morning. My boyfriend, bless him, drove me home. I was scared but more than anything I was embarrassed, he's not seen that side of me before. I was also bitterly disappointed, I really wanted a special time, not the disaster that I got! I can't complain tho, not really.
My cf nurse rang me in the morning asking me to get to clinic that day and to bring some clothes with me (never a good sign) and sure enough I've been in hospital ever since. I feel safe here though, the doctors, nurses, physio's and dieticians are fantastic and also the rest of the people who run the ward. I was seen on Thursday and given a rough estimate of 10 days before I can go home. Obviously this can change (hopefully for the better!) so I will see what happens during ward round on Tuesday.
I am feeling much better, I'm on some heavy duty IV antibiotics and am getting plenty of rest, this is the first day I have been awake enough to use my laptop though I can feel my eyes getting heavy. So I will say ta ta for now, time for a nap I think!

After Christmas
I always feel the week after Christmas is a bit of a limbo, the decorations are still up but Christmas is over, the next year is just around the corner but not quite here. All the new plans feel like they have to be put on hold until new year (though that's probably me being lazy).
We had a lovely, quiet Christmas here. We have a tradition where we open a present an hour because it makes the "oooo present!" factor last longer. I love Christmas, the food and decorations and even the awful television. I always get this urge to go to a church service at this time of year, I'm not sure why as I am in no way religious ( I think there is "something" I'm just not sure what.)
I made some of my own decorations this year, the glass Christmas tree on the left is an experiment I had. They turned out a bit wonky and have only a passing resemblance to a Christmas tree shape but I have gone from initially hating them to loving how they look... I'm fickle! I hope that they are hung on the Christmas tree for years to come.
This fairy is older than me, her wings are half off and her head is hanging by a thread but I love her!
Along with the usual decorations, someone (my dad I reckon) has hung the shoe horn I won out of a cracker, on the tree.I think this will be the start of a new tradition!
I must admit I go a bit overboard on the decorations, as I see it the more shiny and bright the better.
Christmas shopping was a bit of a last minute rush this year, I managed to catch myself a lovely virus (lucky I was already in hospital when it started to kick in, I haven't felt that bad for a few years and because of the pain I couldn't open my mouth which was a problem for someone like me who likes to gab, saying that I lost my voice a few days after and had to resort to angry hand gestures. I was given codeine which took the edge off and made me a bit smiley. ) just over two weeks before and with no presents bought, it all had to be done during the last few days. Needless to say I wasn't feeling great as I dragged myself around town, and I promised to listen to the doctors warning to take it easy when all my wrapping was done.
Still, I'm feeling much better than I did and am up and about. :D
I've taken alot of photos with my new, Christmas gift, camera which I have fallen totally in love with and will be with me where ever I go.
I hope everyone had a fab Christmas!
